今回はガザ市を抜けて、南の海岸に向かいます。
We go through Gaza city and head to the seashore in south of Gaza strip at this time.

2014年の戦闘の被害　The damage due to the combat in 2014

ガザ市から少し南東の方に行くと、建物の破壊具合が明らかに違います。国境に近い地域では、イスラエル軍に狙われた箇所が多く、特に井戸などインフラに関係する箇所は多く攻撃を受けています。私たちは被害を受けた人々の生活の復興ために、少しでも何ができないかと、井戸の再建事業を進めています。
Heading to South East area in Gaza Strip, the terribly damaged buildings are showing up. The area close to the border with Israel has many placed got bombed. The area such as water wells was the biggest target in the combat of 2014.  We hope we could support them through this project.

ガザ市から南の方へ行く道すがら。破壊の具合がひどいです。 You can see the damaged buildings between Gaza city and the South East area.

このような光景は、ガザ地区の南東地域ではよく見かけますが、そのたびに途方に暮れるような思いにかられ、再建への長い道のりに一層精進しなければならないなと感じます。
There are many sites like the pictures above. Every time you see those sites, you feel the road to recover would be helplessly long. We as NICCO team would like to put much more effort on the project.

井戸のあった建物の近くの様子。多くの人が住んでいたが、破壊されている。 The are close to the water well building. Many people were living next to the building but they got targeted and it looks like this now.

 

礫は片付けられていないところが多い。 There’s still a lot of rubble left many places .

井戸のオーナーがいろいろ攻撃を受けたときの状況を教えてくれました。 The owner of water wells told us exactly what happened here.

 

 ガザの海　The sea of Gaza

最後はガザの海です。この海も約5.5km先までしか漁が認められていません。海からも封鎖されています。
At last I would like to show you the sea of Gaza. Fishermen are not allowed to go out further than  5.5km away from the shore. Gaza strip is blocked from sea as well.

イスラエルの規制により物資が入ってこないため、漁師のボートで使用する発電機は車からとってきたエンジンで動かしています。これは大変危険です。Essential goods are still in short supply due to Israel’s control. Therefore, fishermen use a generator on their boat run by an engine used to be installed a car. It is very dangerous.

恵の雨が降ってきました。 It’s raining!! People get very happy if rain falls down.

乾期が終わり、雨季が始まりました。夏はほとんど雨が降らないため、これで雨をためて農業に使うことができるようになります。しかし、乾季の間でその雨ももたないため、井戸の再建に一層力を注ぎたいと思います。
After the long dry season, the rainy reason came. People can use rainwater to agriculture or other things during this season. But the amount of rainwater is not enough  during the dry season. Therefore we need to fix the water wells in this project.
