こんにちは、ガザから多田です！とうとう修復予定の井戸3箇所の水も正常に出て(2ヶ所は完璧に掘り直しで、1ヶ所は部分的ダメージのためポンプ交換)、今ガザチームは、ポンプとソーラーパネル設置の準備に取りかかっています。
Hello this is Marie from Gaza! Finally we successfully finished pumping tests at 2 wells and their water quality tests. We have another well to fix but this does not need to get re-drilled. Now we are fully ready for installing pumps and solar panels.

ガザには、4600以上の農業用井戸があります。しかし、そのうちの約2000基の井戸は無許可で掘削されているのです[1]。これらの破壊された農業用井戸を世界各国の援助団体で重複がないように、手分けして支援を行なっています。私たちの修復する井戸は3基あり、ガザ地区全体に散らばっています。ガザ市の南に位置するジョホル・アル・ディーク、ガザの南部ハン・ユニスエリアのフザーとアルカララです。どれもイスラエルとのボーダーから近く、被害が甚大だった地域です。
They say that there are over 4600 agricultural wells in Gaza. However 2000 of them were drilled with out any license[2]. Many international organizations now try to fix those destroyed agricultural wells without any overlaps of projects. We are trying to fix 3 wells in Gaza Strip. Juhor Ad-Dik in the south of Gaza city and, Khuza’a and Al-Qarara in Khan Yunis area. Those 3 wells are very close to the border with Israel, which means they have severe damages from the combat in 2014.

水を10分程度流し続けると、透明になってきました。 After 10 min, water became clear!
以上の写真はジョホル・アル・ディークの様子です。井戸の掘削が終わり、水のテストをしました。水の量、質とともに、検査結果は農業用水として良好でした。私も少し味を試してみましたが、ガザの帯水層に塩分が多く含まれているため、少ししょっぱい味がしたような気がしました。この帯水層は、汚染がひどく進んでいるため、ガザ地区の水供給量低下と水質低下は死活問題です。
The picture above is the pumping test in Juhor Ad-Dik. We have received the result of the quantity and quality of water from the research center. The result says that both quantity and quality are good for agriculture. I tried to the water, I felt it tastes a bit of salt in, since the aquifer in Gaza is contaminated and gets salty as its result. Water crisis in Gaza is an huge issue today.

後日井戸を訪れると、ポンプ室となる建屋の建設が始まっていました。ソーラーパネル設置の準備も行なっています。
Later on, they started building pump room next to the water well. Now were are preparing for solar panels.
次はフザー地区の井戸の様子です。下の写真は井戸の掘削を行っている様子です。写真の奥に日本の国旗が見えるでしょうか。井戸のオーナーの奥様が、「井戸を直してくれて本当にうれしい」と言って、作ってくださいました。
Next, I am sharing the Khuza’a’s well with you. The picture below shows contractors doing pumping test. Can you see the Japan flag behind the construction? The wife of well owner put the flag because she said she is happy with us fixing the well.
その井戸のオーナー家族が住む家は、2014年夏の戦闘により、数部屋が破壊されてしましました。オーナーは今でも爆撃が始まったときのことは忘れられないと言っています。
The well owner’s house was partially destroyed by the combat in 2014 as well. Few rooms were blown up. The owner says he cannot forget what happened the day Israeli soldiers started the attack.

Pumping test. We saw water coming! People looked tired today since they worked very hard on pumping test.
最後はアルカララです。前回訪問したときは、ポンプ室の中は瓦礫が散らばっていましたが、今はこの通り新しいポンプをインストールする準備が整っています。黒焦げになった以前のポンプの横にあるパイプは、水をくみ上げる際に使うものです。
Finally this is Al-Qarara’s well. There were many gravels and rubbles in the pump room before but they removed all. They are waiting for a new pump to come. There are a pipe lying next to the burnt pump, this is for pumping water up.

At last, this is a market in Gaza on every Tuesday. We are all hoping that they could have much more vegetable in the market by soon –to-be fixed water wells!
